For Rookies
This year many new people have signed up for swimming. First I would like to thank you and let you know no matter how you do this season you're helping the team and i appreciate it. However many of you might feel that you're not a stong swimmer but trust me you're dead wrong.
My freshman year the first meet i ever swam on Varsity i was put in the 500. The most i'd ever done before was the 200 so i told coach i couldnt do it. He said ok you dont have to... give me your warm-up and go home. That meet i swam the 500 and went a 6:50 a pretty good time but not anything really special. Since then i've gone on to break our schools record in the event and this year i'm looking to break the school pool record.
Moral of the story...don't ever tell yourself you cant because if you do, you will fail. Take it from someone who learned this lesson recently, Anyone and Everyone can succeed in swimming. I've worked hard and tried and its gotton me farther than i ever thought i'd be and i dont see any reason why our record board shouldnt be changed even more in the next few years.
