Some good places to buy are:

Dick's Sporting Goods in Rochester

Speedo's online store

The Deep End, this is a swim store in Rochester on Jefferson road in the back corner of the Bill Gray's Plaza across from Staples.

Swimoutlet.com is usually guaranteed to have some of the cheapest prices for really good equipment. If you don't mind buying over the internet I really suggest this site.

Airseal XR

Vanquisher +

Standard Jammer

How much does it cost to swim?

Swimming is not necessarily a cheap sport. However compared to how much the average athlete spends on equipment for other sports its not really that much more. Unfortunately unlike other sports exactly what you need to buy isn't as common knowledge in swimming as it is in other sports. For example in soccer people know that if they buy with NIKE or ADIDAS then they're getting quality equipment, but when it comes to swimming people, especially those new to the sport, may not know what it is you need. To help with this problem im making this list to help you get an idea of what you will need and about how much you may want to be prepared to spend this season.

Step 1: The Basics

Goggles- The Speedo Airseal XR and the Speedo Speedsocket are both really good quality goggles for relatively cheap. Another pretty good goggle is the Speedo Vanquisher Plus. Prices usually range from 16.99-29.99 for these goggles.

Jammer- A Jammer for those of you who dont know is like compression shorts but a little bit tighter and thicker and goes down to your knees. These are the best to train in  Jammers usually sell for anywhere from 28.99-55.00 i wouldnt recommend paying any more than 35.00 unless you have to though. Every season the team buys Race Suits which we all must wear for meets, these suits usually cost between 45.00 and 50.00

Towel- Always have one... This is swimming so it makes sense and most people have on but just in case. Price free-$10?

Team Sweatshirt and Shirt- This year we will be getting team sweatshirts and shirts with the logo i designed on the front page. For both the shirt and sweatshirt Coach got us a deal where both together will cost 22.99 if i remember right and an extra $8 for your name on them. These are not required but i personally am going to advocate them because they help identify us as a team.

Step 2: People who make Counties

Along with the stuff in step 1 I would also suggest that if you make it to the LCAA Swim Meet (most simmers go to this) that you bring 10-15 dollars to this as well as they sell some T-Shirts every year.

Step 3: Sectional Swimmers

Again this step includes the basics the County Shirt and this time the Section V shirt which usually costs between 15 and 20 dollars. Last year they also had sweatshirts for sale for 30 but i dont know if this will continue or not. Personally i suggest that you get a chamois (shammy) they're like a towel but a lot smaller and they absorb up to 21x they're volume in water, the best part is they wring right out after each time you dry yourself so you dont have to use the same wet towel everytime during along  meet like Sectionals or Counties. These usually cost between 4.99 and 19.99

This is just a small comprehensive list of expendatures however I usually carry a lot more with me just to put it out there:

MY LIST:

3 Pairs of Speedo Airseal XR goggles- 19.99 x 3 = 59.97

2 Pairs of jammers-                          29.99 x 2 = 59.98

Flip-Flops-                                        19.99 x 1 = 19.99

Towel-                                                0.00 x 1=   0.00

Shammy-                                           13.99 x 1= 13.99

Team Suit-                                        49.99 x 1= 49.99

Stopwatch-                                        10.99 x 1 = 10.99

Team Sweatshirt and Shirt-                38.99 x 1= 38.99

County and Sectional Shirts-               15.00 x 2 = 30.00

Total-                                               $283.90

Of course im a little overboard in how much i prepare myself and dont expect anyone to do the same but i hope this page helps some of you get a gauge for how much this season may cost you.
